Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and mashed bananas until well combined. Stir in the brown sugar, then add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is fully incorporated and smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until there are no lumps.

Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture, folding gently until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the brownies soft.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using). Make sure they're evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour into Pan: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, cut into squares and enjoy!
