Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderness.

While the steak marinates, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together the oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and crushed red pepper flakes. Set this sauce mixture aside.

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Return the beef to the skillet, add the blanched broccoli, and pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli. Toss everything to coat and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and the sauce slightly thickens.

Serve the beef and broccoli hot over a bed of jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
