Ingredients

2 ripe bananas

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 pinch of salt

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1 scoop vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preparation: Start by peeling the bananas. Slice them into 1-inch thick rounds or diagonal pieces, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.

Mix the Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to bubble. Be careful not to burn it.

Cook the Bananas: Add the sliced bananas to the skillet in a single layer. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the bananas. Cook for about 2 minutes until golden brown. Carefully flip the bananas.

Add Flavor: After flipping, sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top. Add the vanilla extract and gently stir to coat the bananas in the buttery cinnamon mixture. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the bananas are tender and caramelized.

Optional Nuts: If using, sprinkle the chopped walnuts or pecans into the skillet during the last minute of cooking, and stir gently to combine.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the pan-fried bananas warm. They can be enjoyed on their own or served over ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat!
