Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Whole grain burger buns

Sliced tomatoes and avocado (for topping)

Optional: mayonnaise or aioli (for spreading)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, chopped red onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the burgers tender.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1-inch thick.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium heat. Add the olive oil to the skillet once hot.

Place the chicken patties in the skillet or grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and they develop a golden-brown crust.

While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole grain burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.

Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.

Assemble the burgers by placing a chicken patty on each bun. Top with sliced tomatoes and avocado as desired. For added flavor, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or aioli on the top bun.

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers!
